The Manfredi Barbera company was founded in Sicily by Lorenzo Barbera in 1894 and is today one of the main oil companies on the international scene. The extra virgin olive oils are produced from olives coming from over ten selected areas in Sicily, located in the areas suited to olive growing, with the main native cultivars of the island. In these areas, all phases of olive cultivation are constantly monitored to produce high quality DOP, IGP and organic extra virgin olive oils. The processing of olives for the production of olive oil is carried out in an experimental oil mill, unique in its kind worldwide, which represents a revolutionary plant that makes research and experimentation its strong point: selection, cleaning and pressing of the olives are made in an external area in order to keep the internal room where the oil extraction takes place uncontaminated. For pressing, the Manfredi Barbera company is the only one in the world that can boast five different olive pressing systems: disc pressing, hammer pressing, opposing stone roller pressing, pitting and discs and hammers working in parallel.
